2027: Atiku Abubakar Will Transform and Industrialise Southeast, Lauretta Onochie Says
Former presidential aide Lauretta Onochie has described former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as Nigeria’s incoming president, expressing confidence that his administration would bring major industrial and economic transformation to the Southeast.
Onochie, who previously served as a media aide to late former President Muhammadu Buhari, made the remarks in a post on X while discussing what she described as growing political alignment between people in the Southeast and Atiku ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Onochie Says Southeast Is Aligning With Atiku
According to Onochie, political engagement between people from the Southeast and Atiku has continued to strengthen, with some individuals from the region travelling to Abuja to build closer relationships with political actors from the North.
She presented the development as one of the reasons she believes the Southeast is increasingly aligning with Atiku ahead of the 2027 election.
In her post, Onochie thanked people from the region for what she described as their continued efforts to strengthen the relationship and alliance between the Southeast and the North.
Atiku Would Industrialise Igboland, Onochie Claims
Onochie also expressed confidence that Atiku would focus on transforming and industrialising Igboland if he emerges as Nigeria’s president.
She referred to Atiku as the “incoming president” and urged her followers to pay attention to the political development she highlighted.
Her statement read in part:
“In case you have been wondering why or did not even know that Ndigbo have aligned with Atiku Abubakar, this is one of the reasons.”
She further said the political engagement between the Southeast and the North was significant, adding that Igboland would be transformed and industrialised under an Atiku presidency.
2027 Presidential Race Gathers Momentum
Atiku’s reported political activities and alliances are already forming part of the wider preparations for Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election, with political figures and supporters positioning themselves ahead of the contest.
Onochie’s comments add another layer to the growing political conversation around Atiku’s support base, particularly his relationship with voters and political stakeholders in the Southeast.
