President Bola Tinubu has urged Muslims across Nigeria to reflect on the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) as they celebrate Eid-el-Maulud.
The President congratulated Muslim faithful on the occasion, calling on them to make the celebration more than a commemoration of the birth of the Prophet by putting his values into practice.
In a message issued on Tuesday, Tinubu encouraged Muslims to draw lessons from the Prophet’s life, particularly his devotion, perseverance, humility, tolerance and selflessness.
Tinubu Calls for Reflection, Prayer and Stronger Faith
According to the President, Eid-el-Maulud provides an opportunity for Muslims to engage in personal reflection, prayer and a renewed commitment to the principles taught by Prophet Muhammad.
He urged the faithful to make deliberate efforts to live by those teachings and demonstrate them through their daily actions.
“There are great lessons of devotion, perseverance, tolerance, humility and selflessness that we can all learn from the life of the Prophet,” Tinubu said.
The President noted that these values remain important not only for individuals and families but also for building a more peaceful and united society.
Religious Leaders Asked to Pray for Nigeria
Tinubu also appealed to Islamic leaders to use the Maulud period to offer prayers for Nigeria and encourage their followers to contribute positively to the country.
He urged religious leaders to remind Muslims that the values associated with Prophet Muhammad’s life should extend beyond religious observances and be reflected in their commitment to the nation.
The President’s message comes at a time when issues surrounding security, economic challenges and national unity remain major concerns for Nigerians.
President Urges Support for the Vulnerable
Beyond prayers and religious reflection, Tinubu called on Muslims celebrating Eid-el-Maulud to remember people facing hardship.
He encouraged the faithful to extend a helping hand to the poor, vulnerable and less privileged, stressing the importance of compassion and generosity during the celebration.
The President also called for prayers against insecurity and other challenges affecting the country, urging Nigerians to continue seeking peace and stability.
