2027 Election: Primate Ayodele Warns of Fake Polling Units, Urges INEC to Tighten Security
Primate Elijah Ayodele, the leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has raised concerns over the conduct of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections, warning that alleged fake polling units and voting booths could be used to manipulate the process.
Ayodele issued the warning on Sunday, August 23, 2026, through a statement signed by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin.
According to the cleric, electoral authorities should pay close attention to the possibility of fake polling locations being established in different parts of the country ahead of the elections.
Ayodele Raises Alarm Over Alleged Fake Polling Units
Ayodele claimed that some individuals could attempt to create fake polling units and booths as part of plans to interfere with the votes of unsuspecting Nigerians.
He urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to treat the warning seriously and take steps to ensure voters are properly informed about the locations of legitimate polling units.
The cleric said any failure to address the issue could create confusion on election day and potentially affect the credibility of the results.
“I am seeing a lot of fake things regarding the election which the INEC must take seriously,” Ayodele said.
He further claimed that fake polling units, booths and electoral materials could allegedly be spread across the country in an attempt to weaken the votes of some Nigerians.
Cleric Questions INEC’s Readiness for 2027
Beyond the alleged fake polling units, Ayodele also questioned INEC’s level of preparation for the 2027 elections.
He described the forthcoming presidential election as likely to be more difficult than previous elections and called on the commission’s leadership to put stronger measures in place before Nigerians head to the polls.
According to him, INEC must work ahead of time rather than waiting until the election period before addressing possible challenges.
He specifically called on the INEC chairman to strengthen the commission’s preparations and ensure that the electoral process is credible.
