A factional leader of the Accord Party, Prof. Chris Imumolen, has raised concerns over an alleged threat to his life and the safety of his family, following his political position ahead of the Osun State governorship election.
Imumolen, who endorsed the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate a day before the election, said he had no interest in confrontation with Governor Ademola Adeleke or his supporters.
Instead, he appealed to the governor to use his influence to ensure that his associates, supporters and political followers refrain from intimidation, harassment, threats or violence against him and anyone connected to him.
The Accord Party leader said recent developments had created serious concerns about his personal safety, prompting him to make the matter public as a precaution.

‘I Seek No Confrontation With Adeleke’
Imumolen stressed that his political activities should not be interpreted as a personal attack on the Osun governor.
According to him, his interest in the state is largely tied to the development of the Accord Party, the protection of its political interests and the promotion of democratic values.
He also pointed out that, as a Nigerian citizen, he has the right to express his political views and participate in democratic activities without fear or harassment.
“I make this appeal in the spirit of peace and responsibility. I seek no confrontation with Governor Adeleke or anyone else.”
He further clarified that he had not authorised anyone to engage in threats, violence or confrontation on his behalf.
Imumolen Calls for Restraint From All Political Actors
The politician said political disagreements should never be allowed to escalate into violence or threats against human life.
He urged Governor Adeleke, his supporters and other political actors in Osun State to exercise restraint and embrace dialogue and democratic engagement.
Imumolen also said he was not accusing any specific person of being responsible for a possible future incident, but wanted his concerns documented publicly.
He called on security and law-enforcement authorities to carry out an immediate, transparent and independent investigation if he, a member of his family or anyone directly associated with him suffers harm.
The investigation, he said, should establish the facts and identify whoever may be responsible.
‘My Political Views Are Not a Declaration of War’
Imumolen maintained that his political position should not be seen as a declaration of war against anyone.
He said his endorsement of the APC candidate before the Osun governorship election was part of his democratic participation and should not become a reason for intimidation or harassment.
He also emphasised that he had not instructed anyone to act violently on his behalf, urging all sides to pursue their political differences through lawful and democratic means.
Imumolen: ‘I Seek Only Justice, Fairness and Peace’
As concerns over his safety remain at the centre of his statement, Imumolen ended his appeal by calling for peace rather than confrontation.
He said he wanted to continue pursuing the development and political interests of the Accord Party without fear or intimidation.
“I seek no war. I seek only justice, fairness, peace and the freedom to pursue the development of Accord without intimidation or fear.”
His statement places renewed attention on the need for political actors in Osun State to keep disagreements within democratic boundaries and avoid actions that could threaten lives or deepen political tensions.
