Bandits Attack Kano Community, Abduct APC Chairman in Rogo
Bandits have reportedly launched another attack in Kano State, with a local resident killed and the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairman in Rogo Local Government Area allegedly abducted.
The latest incident occurred in Beli village at about 1 a.m. on Tuesday, September 1, according to information from residents familiar with the attack.
The gunmen were said to have stormed the community and opened fire before heading to the residence of the local APC chairman, Alhaji Audu Fanka Salisu Yahaya.
Yahaya was reportedly dragged from his house after the attackers forced their way inside and subsequently taken away by the gunmen.
A young man, believed to be under 25 years old, was also reportedly shot during the operation and died at the scene. Other residents were said to have sustained gunshot injuries.
The APC chairman is reportedly a close associate of the Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Jibril Ismail Falgore, who is from the same local government area.
Residents have since raised fresh concerns over the worsening security situation, with social media posts from people in the community calling on security authorities to intervene.
Third Attack Reported in Three Days
The reported abduction and killing in Beli came after two separate attacks were recorded in other parts of Kano State.
On Sunday, suspected bandits reportedly invaded Chiromawa in Garin Malam Local Government Area, where three people were allegedly killed and an elderly man abducted.
The elderly victim was later reported to have escaped from his captors.
The following night, attackers reportedly moved into the neighbouring Rantan community in Bebeji Local Government Area, where two people were said to have been killed.
The latest attack in Beli marks the third consecutive day in which bandit attacks have reportedly been recorded across communities in the state.
The series of incidents has heightened fears among residents, particularly in affected rural communities.
