Two arraigned in court over alleged illegal ‘deve’ demand in Warri

Two persons have been charged by a Magistrate Court in Warri, Delta State, for unlawfully demanding a development tax from a real estate developer. This was revealed in a statement posted on the Delta State Government’s official website.

Irikefe Ajueyitsi and Abubakar Nasiru, the accused, were charged with charges that bordered on illegal demand and conduct likely to create a breach of peace, according to the statement.

During construction at 3rd Marine Quarter Road in Warri, it was stated that the defendants demanded payment from Pastor Fred Aghedo, a developer.

Both males entered not guilty pleas to the allegations when they appeared in court, according to the statement. It was also mentioned that they were given bail, and the hearing was postponed until May 20, 2026.

The state administration is making further attempts to crack down on unlawful levies, especially those collected from real estate developers, at the time of the arraignment.

The government claims that anyone caught participating in such activities runs the possibility of being arrested and prosecuted.
