Abia Police Debunk Viral Claim of Human Hair Found in Barber’s Worship Pot
The Abia State Police Command has dismissed widespread claims that shaved human hair was discovered inside a fetish pot recovered from an arrested barber, describing the reports as false and misleading.
The clarification comes after social media posts sparked public concern by alleging that police uncovered human hair during a search of the suspect’s residence. Authorities have now confirmed that those reports are inaccurate.
According to the police, the suspect, identified simply as Emeka, was arrested following a petition involving an alleged threat to life. During the investigation, officers searched his residence and recovered a native pot, carved images, and other items believed to be associated with traditional religious practices.
However, the command stressed that no shaved human hair was found among the recovered items.
Police spokesperson DSP Maureen Chinaka explained that the suspect told investigators the carved images represented his ancestors and were part of his traditional religious beliefs.
She emphasized that while investigations into the case are still ongoing, the claims circulating online about human hair being discovered inside the pot are entirely unfounded.
The police urged residents to avoid spreading unverified information, noting that false reports can create unnecessary panic and mislead the public.
DSP Chinaka also criticized the growing trend of sensational online content, stating that some creators publish exaggerated stories simply to attract attention and increase engagement.
The Abia State Police Command assured the public that updates will be provided as investigations continue and encouraged citizens to rely on verified information rather than viral social media claims.
