Troops thwart terrorist assault in a village in Sokoto

A terrorist attack in Tara village, Sabon Birni Local Government Area, Sokoto State, was effectively repulsed by soldiers from 8 Division Garrison. Security analyst Zagazola Makama, who keeps an eye on security occurrences nationwide, posted about the development on X on Tuesday.

He claims that soldiers at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Gatawa responded to indications of terrorist movement in the vicinity at approximately 11:50 p.m. on April 11.

According to Makama, “the troops engaged the attackers in a gun battle upon arrival and forced them to retreat.”

According to security officials, the attackers fled the site when the soldiers employed overwhelming firepower to repel them. At the time of publishing, no official number of casualties has been verified.

In order to stop other attacks, he said, forces have maintained up patrols and surveillance in the region.
