Benue: Hyacinth Alia directs the reclamation of government lands illegally encroached in Makurdi

After inspecting the current renovations at the Commissioners’ Quarters in Makurdi, Governor Hyacinth Alia has ordered the prompt return of all government lands that were unlawfully taken over. He recommended individuals impacted to legally acquire land through the proper government procedures and warned that unapproved occupation would not be tolerated.
Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, the governor of Benue State, issued the order on Wednesday following an on-site evaluation of the quarters’ renovations, during which encroachment concerns were noted.
The governor gave the Ministry of Works, the Office of the Attorney General, and other pertinent agencies instructions to start recovering the impacted areas right away. He underlined that unlawful possession of public land interferes with equitable distribution and appropriate land management.
In order to obtain allocation through the appropriate authorities, he continued, those who now possess such lands must leave and adhere to due process.
Governor Alia described the construction as sound and up to par while examining the project, praising the contractor for the calibre and speed of work.
In order to make the most of the available property, he also disclosed government plans to investigate additional development inside the expansive premises, including the construction of new buildings.
He claims that high government officials will shortly receive completed units.
The governor said that additional properties had been acquired to address the housing issues that the state’s civil personnel face, reiterating his administration’s emphasis on worker welfare. He pointed out that providing appropriate housing will boost productivity and long-term stability.
Alia also encouraged federal personnel to use these chances and get ready for life after retirement, highlighting agriculture as a profitable and long-term investment.
The governor pledged to keep working to improve housing infrastructure while expressing pleasure with the development and calibre of work at the Commissioners’ Quarters.
Nine housing units have been supplied thus far, while several more are still under development.
