RMD Reveals Why He Gives His Wife His Biggest Gifts, Says She Never Has to Ask for Anything

Veteran Nollywood actor Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD) has shared the heartfelt reason behind his generous approach to marriage, revealing that he intentionally gives his wife the biggest gifts he owns so she never has to ask him for anything.

The respected actor made the revelation during an appearance on The Morayo Show, where he spoke about his marriage, family, and the personal values that have shaped his life over the years.

According to RMD, understanding his wife’s love language has played a major role in keeping their relationship strong.

“Her Love Language Is Gifts”

RMD explained that his wife appreciates thoughtful gifts more than anything else, saying she enjoys receiving meaningful presents rather than traditional romantic gestures.

He joked that flowers and chocolates are no longer enough for many women today, adding that whenever his wife travels abroad, shopping is always part of the experience.

“These days, it’s never about flowers and chocolates anymore. Ladies like money. For my wife, a trip abroad must have a shopping mall. Her love language is gifts.”

The actor said one of the greatest compliments he receives is hearing his wife proudly tell people that he provides everything she needs.

“Whatever important thing she has or holds, she will tell you that my husband buys everything that I need, so I try to gift her enough.”

RMD Handed His First ₦100 Million Cheque to His Wife

Sharing one of the biggest moments of his career, RMD recalled receiving the largest cheque he had ever earned—worth about ₦100 million.

Instead of keeping the money or depositing it himself, he instructed his manager to hand the cheque directly to his wife.

According to the actor, she was initially surprised and asked whether he wanted her to keep it for their children.

However, he insisted the money belonged to her.

“The first time I had the biggest cheque in my life, like ₦100 million, my manager had gone to pick it up, and I said, ‘Give it to my wife.’ When she got it, she asked if I wanted her to keep it for the children. I said, ‘No, keep it for yourself.'”

Although he acknowledged that much of the money would eventually benefit their children, he said his intention was to ensure his wife always felt appreciated.

“I know that 90% of that will end up on my children, but I like to gift my wife the biggest things I have so that way, she never has to ask for anything.”

RMD Opens Up on His Son’s Decision to Become an Actor

The Nollywood legend also spoke about his son, Tega, revealing that he never expected any of his children to follow in his footsteps.

According to RMD, Tega only revealed his interest in acting on the day of his graduation, leaving him completely surprised.

“He never once told me he wanted to act. It was during graduation that we were taking pictures when he told me he wanted to act.”

The veteran actor said he immediately wondered why his son had kept the decision to himself for so long, especially since none of his children had previously expressed interest in joining the movie industry.

The Secret Behind RMD’s Youthful Appearance

RMD also addressed the question many fans frequently ask about how he has maintained his youthful looks despite decades in the entertainment industry.

According to him, the answer lies in living a healthy lifestyle.

The actor said he focuses on eating well, exercising consistently, and maintaining a positive mindset regardless of age.

He added that he has always lived by advice from an older person who once told him that growing older should never mean thinking old.

That philosophy, he said, has helped him remain energetic and continue thriving both on and off the screen.
