In a recent episode of the Dear Ife podcast, Okanlawon described Nigeria as a society that promotes mediocrity over excellence.

He cautioned against being “too professional” in Nigeria, arguing that it could jeopardise success and career advancement.

“In a country where mediocrity dominates, you can’t take things too seriously. It was quipped that you couldn’t be too professional to succeed in Nigeria. Those who appear the least serious succeed the most.

“I have realised that you have to tone your intellect down a lot to succeed here,” he replied.
