Osun 2026 Election: Adeleke Calls on Residents to Reject Violence at the Polls

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has appealed to residents across the state to turn out in large numbers for the August 15 governorship election, urging voters to reject violence by casting their ballots peacefully.

The governor made the appeal during a church service at Winners Chapel in Osogbo on Sunday, where he encouraged eligible voters not to be intimidated by threats or acts of violence ahead of the election.

Adeleke maintained that the people of Osun should remain focused on exercising their democratic rights, insisting that no form of intimidation should stop them from participating in the electoral process.

According to the governor, those allegedly promoting violence have lost public support and are now attempting to create fear among voters. He, however, expressed confidence that residents would not be discouraged.

“I urge all residents to come out peacefully on election day and use their votes to reject those behind the violence.”

He further stated that the August 15 governorship election would provide an opportunity for Osun residents to demonstrate that they would not surrender to intimidation.

“On August 15, Osun people will show agents of violence that we are not cowards. Our people’s safety is guaranteed. Come out and vote. Punish those killing and maiming our people by voting against them on August 15.”

Governor Assures Residents of Security

Adeleke reassured residents that his administration remains committed to protecting lives and property before, during, and after the election.

He emphasized that safeguarding the people remains his administration’s highest priority, adding that every effort is being made to ensure a peaceful voting exercise across the state.

The governor also insisted that he was not intimidated by the opposition, saying his administration has the capacity to withstand political pressure while remaining focused on governance.

Adeleke Highlights Administration’s Performance

While calling for another term in office, Adeleke pointed to his administration’s achievements in key sectors, including workers’ welfare, healthcare, education, infrastructure, and agriculture.

He expressed confidence that the electorate would assess his government’s performance and renew his mandate at the polls.

“Our record in workers’ welfare, healthcare, education, infrastructure, agriculture and other sectors speaks for itself, and I am confident the people of Osun will give us another mandate on August 15.”

As political activities intensify ahead of the governorship election, attention remains focused on how voters across Osun State will respond when they head to the polls on August 15.
