2027 Election: INEC Publishes Full List of 19 Presidential Candidates and Running Mates

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially displayed the names, credentials, and personal details of all 19 presidential candidates and their respective running mates ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general election.

The move marks another important stage in the country’s electoral process, giving Nigerians the opportunity to review information submitted by candidates before the polls.

INEC Releases Candidates’ Details for Public Inspection

According to the electoral commission, the published documents are contained in Form EC9, which includes the personal particulars, affidavits, educational qualifications, and other credentials submitted by presidential candidates during the nomination process.

The documents have been displayed at INEC offices across Nigeria, including state and local government offices, where members of the public can inspect them.

The exercise is designed to promote openness and accountability while allowing anyone with legitimate concerns to review the information provided by candidates.

Publication Required Under the Electoral Act

INEC explained that the publication of Form EC9 is a legal obligation under Section 29(3) of the Electoral Act, 2026.

The law requires the commission to publish the personal particulars and supporting documents of candidates within 21 days after receiving nominations from political parties.

By complying with this provision, INEC says it is strengthening transparency and ensuring that the electoral process remains open to public scrutiny.
