2027: Atiku alleges fresh plot to exclude ADC from ballot
Atiku Abubakar, the former vice president and presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has expressed worries about a new scheme to prevent the opposition party from being on the ballot in the general elections of 2027.
Atiku Abubakar, the former vice president and presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has expressed worries about a new scheme to prevent the opposition party from being on the ballot in the general elections of 2027.
His spokesperson, Phrank Shaibu, claimed in a statement that some members of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration wish to employ legal and political ploys to keep the ADC off the ballot.
Atiku called on its supporters to oppose any attempt to selectively allow some opposition parties to run in the upcoming election.
He pointed out that the ruling party might plot to undermine democracy, but he wouldn’t say it.
“We know all about their schemes. We are aware that the ADC is their true aim because it is the most credible option, even though they are trying to create uncertainty within the opposition.
Therefore, we urge all Nigerians, not only members and supporters of the ADC, to stand up for democracy and oppose any attempt by the ruling party to select which opposition parties are allowed to run in the upcoming general election.
“We have a straightforward message for the APC and the men in hoods who are scheming in secret: you can plot, but you will fail. Atiku asked, “Why is the APC so afraid of the ADC if it is so sure of its popularity?”
