2027: NDC Declares Openness to Coalition Talks

In advance of the 2027 general elections, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has hinted at a coalition, stating that it is open to talks with other opposition parties and expressing optimism that any alliance will support the NDC candidates.

In advance of the 2027 general elections, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has hinted at a coalition, stating that it is open to talks with other opposition parties and expressing optimism that any alliance will support the NDC candidates.

Seriake Dickson, the party’s national head, made this statement during an interview on Channels Television’s “Sunday Politics” show.

“We shall be transparent as leaders of the opposition. He declared, “Our party, the NDC, will be open to discussions within that space.”

However, the former governor of Bayelsa State made it clear that neither he nor anybody else would interfere with those talks, expressing hope that any talks would result in support for the NDC candidates.

The serving senator from Bayelsa stated that he was not asserting his superiority and that they would go to a new stage of talks following the conclusion of the nomination process.

Recall that the party recently encountered a problem when a Federal High Court in Lokoja, Kogi state, overturned a previous ruling ordering the Independent National Electoral Commission, or INEC, to register it as a political party.
