According to information released by the Kano State Fire Service, the agency received an emergency call at approximately 8:49 a.m. reporting that a fencing wall had collapsed at the demolition site.
Firefighters from the Service Headquarters were immediately dispatched to the location, where they found a residential property measuring approximately 30 by 20 feet undergoing demolition.
Preliminary findings indicated that the building became unstable while workers were removing the surrounding fencing wall.

Fire Service Issues Safety Reminder
Following the incident, the Kano State Fire Service urged contractors, property owners, and construction workers to strictly observe safety procedures during demolition and construction projects.
The agency emphasized that proper planning, structural assessments, and adherence to safety precautions are essential to reducing the risk of accidents and protecting workers on site.
Demolition Site Accidents Highlight Safety Concerns
Incidents involving collapsing structures during demolition continue to raise concerns about workplace safety across construction sites.
Safety experts recommend that demolition projects be carried out under proper supervision, with workers equipped with protective gear and buildings carefully assessed before any structural work begins.
As investigations continue, authorities hope the findings will help prevent similar accidents and improve safety standards for future demolition activities across Kano State.
