US Embassy restructures Abuja Visa Services to Lagos leaving applicants with more costs

US Embassy has suspended routine visa services in Abuja leaving many Nigerian applicants who patronize non-immigrant visas at the ministry of foreign affairs in confusion.

The new visa policy, which commenced this week, requires those who opt for non-immigrant visas to come down from Abuja to Lagos.

The US Embassy did not give a timeline on when visa services would resume in Abuja.

Travel agents and visa counselors were quick to modify their information as soon as it was announced and applicants were required to make alternative provisions as soon as possible.

The change in policy would require people from the North and Middle belt to bear the extra cost of getting to Lagos for their visa appointments.

Furthermore, it is not enough to just get an appointment. They must also consider accommodation and other related costs.

Applicants were advised to check out the latest appointment dates and requirements on the embassy website before getting any transport or accommodation due to the changes.
