An unknown number of kids from the Government Day Secondary School in Lassa town, which is situated in the Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno State, have been kidnapped by gunmen who are thought to be bandits.

On Monday morning, as kids were taking the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE), administered by the National Examinations Council (NECO), the community was attacked by criminals.

During the event, one instructor was shot and killed, and another was injured.

Residents who told journalists about the occurrence claimed that shortly before the bandits attacked, Nigerian military forces stationed nearby had departed on a patrol to Uba, which is about 16 km distant.

“When the terrorists invaded, the soldiers were not present. They arrived in great numbers, firing intermittently and spreading fear across the area.

One of the neighbours claimed that “they took away students writing NECO and their teachers.”

Nahum Daso, a spokesperson for the Borno State Police Command, revealed that a number of kids remain unaccounted for after the raid.
