Nigerian troops attached to Sector 1 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have arrested a suspected terrorist during a security operation in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State.
The arrest was made at approximately 9:00 a.m. on July 18, 2026, during an operation carried out by soldiers deployed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Otukpo.
The military operation took place in Amula community, where security personnel conducted clearance exercises aimed at flushing out criminal elements and dismantling suspected hideouts used by armed groups operating in the area.
Following the arrest, the suspect was taken into military custody and is currently undergoing preliminary interrogation. Investigators are working to establish the individual’s identity, determine any affiliation with terrorist or armed criminal groups, and assess the extent of involvement in previous criminal activities.
