Amelia Dimoldenberg Says Andy Burnham Isn’t Her “Chicken Shop Date” Type, But She’s Open to a Conversation

Amelia Dimoldenberg has ruled out inviting UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham onto her hit YouTube series Chicken Shop Date, saying he simply isn’t her “type” for the show.

However, the popular content creator made it clear she has nothing against speaking with the prime minister outside of the series, especially about issues affecting young people.

Speaking during an interview, Dimoldenberg joked that while Burnham would not be getting a Chicken Shop Date invitation, she would “100% love” to sit down with him for a proper discussion.

“I don’t think that maybe he’s my type for Chicken Shop Date.”

Her comments come as Burnham has indicated he wants to engage more with digital creators and social media personalities to reach younger audiences.

Amelia Dimoldenberg Supports Politicians Engaging With Content Creators

Although some critics believe politicians use influencer appearances to avoid difficult political interviews, Dimoldenberg sees the trend differently.

According to her, social media has become one of the biggest sources of news for younger generations, making collaborations with online creators increasingly important.

She believes politicians can speak to creators while still participating in traditional interviews and media appearances.

Rather than replacing mainstream journalism, she views digital platforms as another way for leaders to communicate with the public.

Why Youth Employment Matters to Dimoldenberg

Away from her comedy interviews, Dimoldenberg is focused on helping young people enter the creative industry.

She recently expanded her Dimz Inc. Academy, a free training programme designed for people aged 18 to 24.

The initiative provides:

  • Paid work placements
  • Industry mentoring
  • Hands-on experience in digital media
  • Career development opportunities

The programme has now been extended from one week to four weeks following its successful first year.

Dimoldenberg said the project was inspired by her own experience starting Chicken Shop Date through a youth club, where she received mentorship and valuable industry connections that helped launch her career.

She described rising numbers of young people not in employment, education or training (NEETs) as a major concern.

Because of that, she believes expanding apprenticeships and training opportunities should remain a priority.

She also said discussing youth unemployment would be one of the main reasons she’d like to meet Andy Burnham.

Building a Media Empire Beyond Chicken Shop Date

While Chicken Shop Date remains her biggest success, Dimoldenberg has significantly expanded her career.

She is currently working across multiple entertainment projects, including:

  • The second season of Passenger Princess, where she interviews Formula One stars while learning to drive.
  • Hosting celebrity interviews on major red carpets, including the Oscars.
  • Running her own production company.
  • Directing music videos, including one for singer Maisie Peters.
  • Preparing to appear as herself in an upcoming romantic comedy.

Despite her growing fame, she says every celebrity interview still requires extensive preparation, comparing the research process to studying for school exams.

Why Politicians and Royals Don’t Fit Chicken Shop Date

Although the show has featured some of the world’s biggest musicians, actors and comedians, politicians have never really matched its format.

The same applies to members of the Royal Family.

Dimoldenberg joked that neither politicians nor royals are really her “type” for the awkward dating-style interviews that have made the series famous.

Instead, the show continues to focus on celebrities, whose playful interactions often become viral moments across social media.

Andrew Garfield Dating Rumours Addressed

One of the most talked-about episodes of Chicken Shop Date featured actor Andrew Garfield.

Their chemistry sparked widespread speculation online, with many fans wondering whether the pair had become a real-life couple.

Addressing the rumours, Dimoldenberg laughed off the speculation, saying she was simply too busy for anything serious.

“These things happen.”

Her response appears to put an end to months of fan theories surrounding the pair.

Drake Remains Her Ultimate Dream Guest

For years, Dimoldenberg has joked that landing Canadian rapper Drake on Chicken Shop Date would be the perfect ending for the series.

Although that long-awaited interview has yet to happen, she says she’s still hopeful.

Rather than travelling to Toronto herself, she joked she’d prefer Drake to come to her.

For now, however, she has no plans to end the hugely successful YouTube series.

She says there are still plenty of dream guests she wants to interview before considering bringing Chicken Shop Date to a close.

In her own words, she’s still waiting to “fall in love” on the show—meaning fans shouldn’t expect the chicken shop doors to close anytime soon.
