Troops Arrest Suspected Boko Haram Logistics Supplier in Borno, Recover Fuel and Food Supplies
Nigerian troops under Operation Hadin Kai have arrested a 32-year-old man suspected of supplying fuel and food items to Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists during an intelligence-driven operation in Gubio Local Government Area of Borno State.
The suspect, identified as Modu Rayami, was apprehended on July 27, 2026, at approximately 2:30 p.m. in Zowo village by troops of the 149 Battalion (Motorised) working alongside the Hybrid Forces and the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).
Intelligence Operation Targets Terrorist Supply Chain
The operation was launched after intelligence reports allegedly linked Rayami to the transportation of logistics for insurgents operating along the Binduldul–Kareto corridor, an area known for terrorist activities in northern Borno.
Security operatives intercepted the suspect before the supplies could allegedly reach the terrorists, marking another effort by the military to weaken Boko Haram and ISWAP’s operational capabilities.
Fuel, Food Items Seized During Arrest
During the operation, troops recovered a large quantity of supplies believed to have been intended for insurgents.
Items recovered include:
- Five jerry cans of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS)
- Two jerry cans of palm oil
- One bag each of salt, pepper, and garri
- Six bags of flour
- Seven bags of sugar
- One sack of soft drinks
- One mobile phone
The recovered materials are now in military custody as investigations continue.
Suspect Allegedly Confesses During Interrogation
According to military sources, the suspect allegedly admitted during preliminary questioning that he had been transporting fuel and food supplies to Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters operating within the Binduldul–Kareto axis.
Authorities are expected to carry out further investigations before deciding on possible prosecution.
Military Intensifies Crackdown on Terrorist Logistics
Security officials said the latest arrest forms part of the military’s ongoing intelligence-led campaign aimed at dismantling terrorist logistics networks across the North-East.
Rather than focusing solely on armed fighters, Operation Hadin Kai has increasingly targeted individuals and networks accused of supplying fuel, food, and other essential resources that enable insurgents to sustain their operations.
The operation was completed without any reported confrontation, and the troops safely returned to their base shortly after the arrest.
As security operations continue across Borno State, authorities say disrupting supply routes remains one of the key strategies in reducing the operational strength of Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters.
