The Kano State Police Command has restored two seized cars and a tricycle to their rightful owners following multiple successful anti-theft operations throughout the state. On Tuesday, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Kano State Command, signed a statement on behalf of the Commissioner.

In the announcement, the command, led by Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, asserted that public support and intelligence-driven operations were responsible for the recoveries during the past two weeks.

The release stated that “the recovered items include a Pontiac Vibe car, a Toyota Corolla, and a CNG-powered tricycle, all valued at several millions of naira.”

According to the statement, police attached to Tarauni Area Command discovered a Pontiac Vibe with registration number KMC-175CU in Darmanawa Quarters on May 3, 2026.

According to the report, “preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle was stolen from the owner’s residence at about 3:00 a.m. that same day.”

The police said that the car has been released to its owner, who was identified by the vehicle’s details, even though efforts are still being made to capture the offenders.

In another case, the Command claimed to have located a stolen 2004 Toyota Corolla LE in Abuja.

The statement continued as follows: “The car was stolen on April 22, 2026, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Wuse, Abuja, and was later traced to Darmanawa Layout in Kano.”

Police from the Special Intervention Squad (SIS) located the vehicle and returned it to the owner. “The suspects have been identified and are still at large,” the statement added.

The command also confirmed the discovery of a stolen CNG tricycle and the apprehension of three suspects.

The criminals in Kaduna State are accused of attacking and poisoning the rider before the tricycle was removed.

The accused, Umar Rabi’u, 32, Yahaya Hannafi, 20, and Amina Muhammad, 21, were caught in Kano after the tricycle was discovered along Ring Road. They are presently assisting the authorities with their investigation, the statement said.

All of the recovered items were returned to their owners, according to the police, following a brief ceremony at the Command Headquarters in Bompai.

The police officers who took part in the operations and members of the public who provided important information were also commended by the commissioner of police.

The police also advised residents to put monitoring devices in their vehicles, avoid parking in remote areas, and constantly report suspicious activities to security services.
