Kwankwaso Announced Resigns From NNPP

Former Kano State governor and New Nigeria People Party (NNPP) presidential candidate Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has announced his immediate exit from the party. Kwankwaso disclosed this information in a press statement dated March 29, 2026, claiming that the decision was made in response to the need for a strategic political realignment given Nigeria shifting political landscape.

He thanked the party for offering him the opportunity to serve as its National Leader and presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections and described the decision to resign as difficult.

He asserted that given the current political trend in the nation, it was essential to identify with a distinct political platform in order to successfully pursue national transformation.

The press release said, “I would like to officially announce my resignation from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) with immediate effect.”
