Candidates preparing for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) can now verify and upload their O’Level results without having to visit a Computer-Based Test (CBT) centre, following a new system introduced by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
The new arrangement is currently available for results issued by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), giving candidates a more convenient way to complete an important part of their admission process from home.
Candidates Can Now Verify WAEC Results Remotely
Under the new system, candidates can use JAMB’s e-Facility platform to begin the verification process after obtaining the required verification code.
Rather than relying entirely on manual submission at CBT centres, JAMB will verify the candidate’s result directly with the relevant examination body before the result is uploaded to the candidate’s profile.
The move is expected to make the process easier for candidates, particularly during periods when CBT centres experience heavy traffic.
How the New JAMB Verification Process Works
Candidates who want to use the service are required to provide their National Identification Number (NIN), obtain a verification code and complete the required payment.
After receiving the verification code, candidates can proceed through the available JAMB e-Facility option to initiate verification of their O’Level result.
There is also an SMS option available. Candidates can send “VERIFY” followed by their verification code to 55019 or 66019 to use the service.
Once the information is submitted, the result can be checked directly against the records of the relevant examination body before it is added to the candidate’s JAMB profile.
New System Could Reduce Pressure on CBT Centres
JAMB said the technology-driven process is designed to make its services faster, safer and more convenient for candidates.
The system could also reduce the number of candidates visiting CBT centres solely to complete O’Level result verification or upload-related processes.
Another expected benefit is a reduction in errors associated with manual data entry. It could also help minimise some of the difficulties candidates face when network problems affect operations at busy CBT centres.
For candidates, the biggest advantage is the ability to complete the process remotely instead of making repeated trips to a CBT centre.
JAMB Plans Wider Expansion
The home-based verification service currently covers WAEC results, but the system is expected to be extended to results from other examination bodies.
The planned expansion could make O’Level result verification significantly easier for more UTME candidates as the 2026 admission process progresses.
For now, candidates using the service should ensure that the personal information and examination details they provide are accurate to avoid delays during the verification process.
