Wande Coal Accused of Failing to Refund Over $20,000 Spent on Canada Concert

Nigerian singer Wande Coal has been accused of failing to refund more than $20,000 allegedly spent on a concert organised for him in Canada.

Aku Ezeiruaku, a content creator and social media personality, made the allegation while recounting her experience on the Pair Pressure podcast.

According to Ezeiruaku, the incident happened in 2019 when she was still relatively new to the entertainment business. She claimed she invested heavily in a concert scheduled to feature Wande Coal as the headline performer but was unable to recover her money.

Ezeiruaku said she spent over $20,000 covering expenses for the event, including vendors, venue bookings and accommodation for the singer.

She also shared details of a flyer dated August 30, 2019, which advertised Wande Coal as the headline act for a concert at Fraserview Banquet Hall in Canada.

“I spent over $20,000 on an event. I paid vendors. I booked halls. I put you in a hotel, but I could not get my money back. I have all the receipts with me,” she alleged.

She explained that her involvement with the singer began after she was contacted during a period when he was reportedly facing financial difficulties.

According to her account, Wande Coal told her that he had been duped and that problems with his management had left him in a difficult financial situation.

Ezeiruaku Says Wande Coal Asked Her to Pay Him Directly

Ezeiruaku alleged that the singer asked her to send his deposit directly to him rather than through his manager.

She said she initially had reservations about organising the show, particularly because Wande Coal did not have a major hit song at the time.

She also recalled telling him that another Nigerian artist, Burna Boy, had recently held a successful sold-out show and that she wanted to be cautious about the financial risk involved.

“We did not have a written agreement because I thought I was helping a human being,” she said.

Ezeiruaku also claimed that the singer had stayed at her home before the event, adding that she believed she was helping someone she had come to know personally.

Ezeiruaku Says Dispute Took a Heavy Toll on Her

The content creator said the financial dispute had a serious emotional impact on her.

She claimed she suffered depression during the period and described the experience as one of the most painful episodes of her early career in entertainment.

“I went into depression. I almost died,” she alleged.

Ezeiruaku said she later demanded that Wande Coal return her deposit and reimburse the money she had spent on the event.

She also recalled how their relationship had changed over the years, noting that she had supported the singer before he became one of Nigeria’s recognised music stars.

“I told him to send me back my deposit of 3,500 Canadian dollars,” she said.

‘I Was So Happy for Him,’ Ezeiruaku Says

Despite the alleged financial dispute, Ezeiruaku said she had once been genuinely happy to see Wande Coal’s career grow.

She recalled knowing the singer before he became widely successful and said she was present when he met music executive Don Jazzy.

“Wande used to dance for me. He went on and became a huge star. I was so happy for him. I was there when he met Don Jazzy,” she said.

Her account has renewed attention on the financial risks that can come with organising independent concerts, particularly when organisers rely on personal relationships rather than formal contracts.
