Eid-El-Maulud: Remi Tinubu urges Muslims to emulate Prophet Mohammed’s virtues

Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has called on Muslims across the country to reflect on the life and teachings of Prophet Mohammed as they mark this year’s Eid-el-Maulud celebration.

In her message to the Muslim community, the First Lady highlighted the importance of the Prophet’s virtues of compassion, forgiveness and peaceful coexistence, urging the faithful to allow these values to guide their conduct at home, within their communities and across the nation.

Oluremi Tinubu made the call on Monday as Muslims commemorate the birth of Prophet Mohammed.

She extended her warm greetings to Muslim faithful across Nigeria and encouraged them to use the occasion not only to celebrate but also to reflect on the exemplary life of the Prophet.

“As we commemorate Eid-el-Maulud 2026, I extend my warm greetings to the Muslim faithful across Nigeria.

“The celebration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) reminds us of his exemplary life and enduring virtues of compassion, forgiveness, and peaceful coexistence.

“I encourage all Muslim faithful to emulate these noble virtues and continue to promote peace in our homes, communities and nation.”

The First Lady’s message focused on the need for Muslims to uphold the values associated with the life of Prophet Mohammed, particularly compassion, forgiveness and peaceful coexistence.

She urged the faithful to demonstrate these virtues in their daily lives and to contribute to peace and harmony in their respective homes and communities.

Eid-el-Maulud is observed by Muslims to commemorate the birth of Prophet Mohammed, providing an opportunity for the faithful to reflect on his life, teachings and values.

Oluremi Tinubu therefore urged Muslim faithful across Nigeria to let the virtues remembered during the celebration extend beyond the occasion and continue to influence their interactions with others.

She also emphasised the importance of promoting peace at different levels of society, from individual homes and communities to the nation as a whole.

The First Lady wished Muslim faithful across Nigeria a meaningful Eid-el-Maulud celebration while encouraging them to continue upholding the values of compassion, forgiveness and peaceful coexistence associated with the Prophet’s exemplary life.
