Troops foil terrorist attack in Sokoto

In Garin Hillo Village, Sabon Birni Local Government Area, Sokoto State, troops from the Nigerian Army 8 Division repulsed an alleged terrorist attack.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama disclosed the event in a post on X on Sunday.

According to the post, troops stationed at a Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Gatawa received indications of terrorist activity in the region, which led to the attack early on April 17.

The soldiers raced swiftly to the scene, where they came across the assailants and engaged them in gunfire. The military eventually put pressure on the terrorists, forcing them to flee, Makama stated.

Additional information revealed that roughly thirty armed attackers had broken into the town on foot, firing intermittently and frightening the locals. Six civilians were hurt as a result of the assault. Later, the patients were transported to Sabon Birni’s General Hospital, where they are presently being treated.

Since then, according to Makama, military have kept a close presence in the region, conducting patrols to deter any attacks and reassure locals that they are safe.
