Toyin Abraham Rejects Lagos APC Campaign Council Role Ahead of 2027

Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has rejected her inclusion in the Lagos APC 2027 campaign council, saying she does not want to participate in politics.

Abraham was listed among several entertainment personalities included in the Lagos State APC campaign council’s Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate.

Other names on the list included veteran actor Jide Kosoko, Fuji musician Pasuma and several Nollywood personalities.

Abraham Says She Is Staying Out of Politics

Following the publication of the campaign council list, Abraham publicly stated that she was not a member of any campaign council and asked the public to disregard the inclusion of her name.

Her position means she does not intend to take part in the campaign council despite being listed among its members.

The development has drawn attention because celebrities and entertainment personalities have increasingly featured in political campaigns and public mobilisation efforts in Nigeria.

Abraham has joined other entertainment figures who have publicly distanced themselves from political campaign activities.

Entertainment and Nigerian Politics

Lagos remains one of Nigeria’s most politically significant states, and political parties frequently involve popular entertainers in campaigns because of their large public followings and visibility.

The inclusion of celebrities in campaign structures has nevertheless continued to generate debate about the role of the entertainment industry in politics.

In Abraham’s case, her latest statement makes her position clear: she says she is staying out of politics and does not want to be regarded as a member of the Lagos APC campaign council.

The Lagos APC campaign council was scheduled for inauguration in September as the party continues preparations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
