Pastor Francis Mambu Responds to Social Media Criticism in Sierra Leone

Pastor Francis A. M. Mambu, founder and General Overseer of Faith Healing Bible Church Worldwide in Sierra Leone, came under criticism on several social media platforms in early September 2026 after making controversial comments about secret and traditional societies.
Critics asked him to prove his claims and questioned his qualifications. Mambu responded by citing Ezekiel 3:17 and saying that he was a watchman.
He asserted that it was his responsibility to warn rather than gain followers and that he would continue to do so regardless of criticism.
Pastor Mambu Addresses His Critics
By publicly posting his response to detractors, Mambu engaged with the controversy rather than simply ignoring the criticism and proceeding with his activities.
The critics did not stop at questioning his motives. Some demanded evidence and threatened to take their accusations to mainstream media.
Mambu’s response was that he would continue doing what he believed was right rather than changing his behaviour because of public disapproval. The exchange illustrates how religious leaders can become directly involved in public debates through social media.
Social Media and African Faith Leaders
Mambu’s activities are part of a broader environment in which faith influencers across Sierra Leone and other African countries use social platforms to communicate directly with followers.
Faith-related organisations can receive support through offerings, media content and other activities, although individual financial arrangements vary.
The controversy also demonstrates how quickly religious statements can move beyond a local congregation once they are published online. Social media allows supporters and critics to respond immediately, creating conversations that can continue long after the original statement.
