Nedu Claims Abuja Is the ‘Headquarters’ of Nigeria’s Sugar Mummy Industry
Nigerian media personality Nedu Wazobia has sparked reactions after claiming that Abuja is the headquarters of Nigeria’s so-called “Sugar Mummy industry,” while discussing the topic with content creator Ludahydrate in a viral video.
Controversial broadcaster and media personality Nedu Wazobia has stirred conversations online after making a bold claim about Nigeria’s “Sugar Mummy industry.”
Speaking during a chat with content creator Ludahydrate, Nedu described the industry as one of the biggest in the country, jokingly insisting that its headquarters is located in Abuja.
“The Sugar Mummy industry is one of the biggest industries in Nigeria. The headquarters, as far as I am concerned, is here in Abuja,” Nedu said.
Ludahydrate Explains Why He Thinks Abuja Fits the Description
Backing Nedu’s statement, Ludahydrate argued that Abuja’s unique social and political environment has contributed to the trend.
According to him, many Northern politicians and political appointees have multiple wives, and divorce settlements can leave some women financially independent.
He explained that after receiving valuable assets such as estates, supermarkets, or other businesses during divorce settlements, some of these women may choose not to remarry.
Instead, he suggested they could prefer having younger partners, popularly referred to as “Sugar Boys.”
“Why there are many in Abuja is because Northern men are here and they have more wives. You will see one minister with about nine wives. If he divorces three of them, he might give one an estate and another a supermarket as settlement.
“Imagine a woman who owns a supermarket or even a water company. She has children but doesn’t have any man in her life. That kind of woman might not want to get married again. She will prefer to just have a Sugar Boy,” Ludahydrate said.
