Mourinho Picks Mbappé, Vinícius Jr and Bellingham as World’s Best Players
Real Madrid manager José Mourinho has singled out Kylian Mbappé, Vinícius Jr and Jude Bellingham as three of the best footballers in the world.
Mourinho made the comments after Real Madrid opened their LaLiga campaign with a dramatic 2-1 victory over Espanyol at the RCDE Stadium on Saturday.
The Portuguese coach was asked about the quality available in his squad and pointed to the Madrid trio, highlighting their performances on the international stage.
Mourinho Names His Three Standout Stars
According to Mourinho, Mbappé, Vinícius and Bellingham have all shown why they belong among football’s elite, particularly with their performances for their respective national teams.
He also highlighted Mbappé’s remarkable World Cup record, while praising Vinícius and Bellingham for the impact they made during the tournament.
“When we talk about the best players in the world, Madrid has many in this group,” Mourinho said.
He added that Mbappé, Vinícius and Bellingham had all produced impressive performances at the World Cup.
Bellingham Makes Immediate Impact for Madrid
Bellingham also gave Mourinho a perfect start to his second spell at Real Madrid, scoring the club’s opening goal in the 2-1 win over Espanyol.
The England midfielder headed home Arda Güler’s free-kick in the ninth minute to put Madrid ahead.
Espanyol later equalised through Alex Calatrava, leaving Madrid in danger of dropping points on the opening day.
However, substitute Carlos Espí rescued all three points for Mourinho’s side with a late goal in the 90th minute.
Madrid’s Star Trio Face Big Expectations
With Mbappé, Vinícius and Bellingham all expected to play major roles this season, Mourinho will be under pressure to find the right balance and get the best from his attacking stars.
The narrow victory over Espanyol showed that Madrid still have plenty to improve, but the three points give Mourinho an encouraging start as he begins his second era at the Spanish giants.
For Nigerian football fans following the European season, the spotlight will now be on how Mourinho manages his star-studded squad and whether his three chosen superstars can deliver consistently as the campaign gathers momentum.
