Ian Pangilinan Set to Star and Direct at Puregold CinePanalo Film Festival 2026

Filipino actor and theatre performer Ian Pangilinan is among the established and emerging Filipino talents expected to feature prominently at the Puregold CinePanalo Film Festival 2026.

Born on September 9, 1997, in Mandaluyong, Pangilinan is entering this year’s festival not only as an actor but also as a director, reflecting his growing involvement behind the camera.

The 2026 Puregold CinePanalo Film Festival will run from September 23 to October 4 at venues including Gateway Cineplex 18 and Trinoma.

This year’s edition features seven feature-length films covering several genres, including ghost stories, hitman dramas and family comedies.

Regular tickets are priced at ₱250, while discounted tickets are available for ₱200.

Ian Pangilinan’s Acting Career

Pangilinan is an Ateneo de Manila University graduate and is represented by Cornerstone talent agency.

He began building his acting profile through projects including Niña Niño, where he played Pol in 2021.

Since then, his career has expanded beyond acting, with Pangilinan also taking on responsibilities as a filmmaker.

He moved into directing with Patay Gutom, which he co-directed with Carl Papa.

His participation in CinePanalo 2026 therefore represents another step in his development as a creative who works in multiple areas of filmmaking.

Pangilinan Joins the Festival as Actor and Director

Being involved in the festival as both an actor and director gives Pangilinan a different position within this year’s CinePanalo lineup.

His participation comes as more young Filipino performers are becoming involved in filmmaking beyond traditional acting roles.

Festival Chair Ivy Hayagan-Piedad has highlighted the involvement of contemporary actors and filmmakers in the festival, with Pangilinan’s presence forming part of a wider group of young creatives participating in the local film circuit.

The CinePanalo Film Festival provides a platform for Filipino filmmakers to present locally produced stories to audiences across several cinema venues.

The 2026 programme’s mix of genres also gives audiences a broad selection of Filipino productions to watch during the festival period.

For Pangilinan, the event provides another opportunity to demonstrate both sides of his filmmaking career while continuing his work as an actor and developing his experience behind the camera.
