Hilda Baci Threatens Legal Action Against Seyi Vibez Over Alleged Defamatory Claims
Celebrity chef Hilda Baci has threatened legal action against Nigerian singer Seyi Vibez over social media posts her legal team described as false, malicious and defamatory.
The dispute erupted after Seyi Vibez took to X to make allegations against Damiliola Akinwunmi, the CEO of Dapper Music, who is reportedly in a relationship with Hilda Baci.
In a series of posts, the singer accused Akinwunmi of violating contractual agreements and alleged financial misconduct. He further claimed that money from the music catalogue of one of Akinwunmi’s artistes was being used to fund Baci’s Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL).
Seyi Vibez also made a separate claim about Baci, alleging that he had previously eaten food prepared by the celebrity chef and that the experience nearly cost him his life.
Hilda Baci Rejects Allegations, Demands Retraction
Baci, through her lawyers, strongly denied the allegations in a letter dated August 15, describing the singer’s statements as “defamatory, malicious and false.”
Her legal representatives said the posts had attracted widespread attention, reportedly recording about 4.3 million views, 7,100 reposts, 3,000 comments and 45,000 likes.
According to the lawyers, the controversy also triggered what they described as persistent and escalating online harassment against Baci, including abusive comments and messages.
The legal team warned that the alleged publications could expose Seyi Vibez to legal consequences, including claims of libel and possible offences under Nigeria’s amended Cybercrimes Act.
Lawyers Give Seyi Vibez Three-Day Deadline
Baci’s lawyers demanded that Seyi Vibez immediately remove and permanently delete the two posts, as well as any other content containing the alleged defamatory claims.
They also demanded a clear public apology and retraction across all of the singer’s social media platforms, including X.
The letter further required Seyi Vibez to provide a written undertaking within three days of receiving the legal notice, promising not to publish, repost or circulate any statements considered false, malicious, defamatory or disparaging toward Baci.
Seyi Vibez Deletes Controversial Posts
The legal threat appears to have been followed by the removal of the disputed posts.
Seyi Vibez has since deleted the posts from his X account, although the development has continued to attract attention online.
The dispute has now shifted from a social media clash into a potential legal matter, with Baci’s legal team making it clear that further publication of the allegations could result in additional action.
