Funnybone Explains Why He Keeps His Wife and Children Off Social Media

Nigerian comedian and actor Chibunna Stanley, popularly known as Funnybone, has opened up about why he deliberately keeps his wife and two children away from social media despite his celebrity status.

During a recent appearance on The Morayo Show, the comedian explained that protecting his family’s privacy is more important to him than sharing every aspect of his personal life online.

Funnybone Says Privacy Comes First

When asked whether he was married, Funnybone confirmed that he has a wife and two children.

The show’s host then questioned why fans rarely see his family on social media, especially considering that many celebrities frequently post about their loved ones.

Responding to the question, Funnybone said he believes keeping his family away from public attention is the safest choice in today’s digital world.

“In a world where people are just there to look at what is not looking at them, it is safer for you to keep your personal life private.”

He further explained that while millions of people know him as the energetic comedian Funnybone, his life at home is completely different.

“Outside and on the stage, I am Funnybone, but at home, I am Chibunna.”

According to the comedian, separating his public career from his private life allows him to protect the people closest to him.

He expressed optimism that Nigerian comedians can gain even greater international recognition over the next decade but stressed that significant improvements are needed across the industry.

According to him, success on the global stage will depend on changing how comedy is produced, packaged and promoted.

“We are hoping to export our crafts to the world, globally.”

He added that the entire comedy ecosystem must evolve to compete internationally.

“For that to happen, the ecosystem needs to change. So we need to change our approach to the production, packaging and marketing of comedy in Nigeria.”

Funnybone Calls for Better Packaging and Marketing of Nigerian Comedy

Funnybone believes Nigerian comedy has the talent needed to succeed worldwide, but stronger production standards, improved branding and better marketing strategies will be key to unlocking its full international potential.

His comments reflect a growing push among entertainers to position Nigerian comedy alongside the country’s globally successful music and film industries, creating more opportunities for comedians to reach audiences beyond Africa.

As the industry continues to evolve, Funnybone remains optimistic that with the right investment and strategic approach, Nigerian comedy can become a stronger force on the global entertainment stage.
