Fatal elephant rampage in Oyo community claims one life, leaves another missing

One individual has died as a result of injuries sustained during an attack by a wild elephant. According to sources, the incident took place at the Innayin community in the Oke Ogun geopolitical zone of Oyo State on Thursday. It was found that the elephant’s attack killed a man by the name of Ibrahim Tijani.

According to sources, the incident took place at the Innayin community in the Oke Ogun geopolitical zone of Oyo State on Thursday.
It was found that the elephant’s attack killed a man by the name of Ibrahim Tijani.
The same animal allegedly attacked another person, Alhaji Muhammadu Bingin. The body of the first victim has been sent to a hospital.
The public relations officer for the State Police command, Olayinka Ayanlade, verified the incidents when reached. He claims that the command is currently investigating the matter.
“After receiving a distress call, police officers swiftly mobilised to the scene, working with local hunters and vigilantes,” said Ayanlade. “Upon arrival, Ibrahim Tijani’s lifeless body was discovered in a nearby thicket, with injuries consistent with an animal assault.”
His remains have been delivered to the General Hospital in Iwere-Ile for the necessary medical examination and preservation.
After coming into contact with the same animal, another individual, Alhaji Muhammadu Bingin, was reported missing during ongoing search efforts. The search for him is currently underway.
“The Command would like to reassure the people of Innayin and the surrounding towns that the situation is being continuously monitored and thatEvery attempt is being made to prevent further harm.
“The general population is strongly encouraged to stay away from the region that is impacted and to contact security forces immediately if they encounter the animal.”
