Disturbing viral video captures man accused of trying to lure 13-year-old hawker

A video that has been circulating on X has caused concern. It allegedly depicts an old man claiming to buy from a 13-year-old girl who sells cocoyam in the neighbourhood in an attempt to seduce her. The video, which was posted on Friday, showed the child hawking cocoyams after the man allegedly called her over.

“Adijat” is the girl’s response when the man asks her name in the video, but the interaction suddenly appeared suspicious, so an eyewitness who was observing from a nearby window decided to record the incident and intervene.

Then he asked whether she would be open to dating him. “Will you date me?” he asked.

The witness who had recorded the event questioned the man about his actions, asking why he would say such a thing to a child.

The man said that he was joking and that all he wanted to do was buy cocoyam from her. In response, he said, “No, no, no, I was just playing and joking with her.”

“He asked if we could go on a date,” the girl says when questioned later in the video, confirming the exchange. I told him he was too old. He went on to say that he is still taking care of his wife. Then, she recalled, he said he wanted to go and bring money.

When asked if what she had said was true, the man denied it, adding, “I asked her, how far? How are things going for you? How about your mum?

As the situation worsened, additional onlookers noticed and denounced what he was doing.

According to Newspaper, a guy was also allegedly caught attempting to lure a young girl selling avocados with ₦1,000 for sex.

As of the time this report was submitted, the pertinent authorities had not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident.
