BREAKING: Anambra Native Doctor Onyeze Jesus Sentenced to Six Years in Prison, Ordered to Pay ₦20 Million Fine
Anambra-based native doctor Onyebuchi Okocha, popularly known as Onyeze Jesus, has been sentenced to six years in prison and fined ₦20 million following his conviction under the Anambra State government’s ongoing campaign against alleged ritual-related activities and fraudulent spiritual practices.
The judgment marks another major development in the state’s intensified efforts to tackle activities authorities believe contribute to crime and public deception.
Onyeze Jesus Convicted Under Anambra Security Law
According to available details, Onyeze Jesus was prosecuted alongside other well-known native doctors, including Chidozie Nwangwu, popularly known as Akwa Okuko Tiwara Aki, and Ekene Igbonekwu, also known as Eke Hit.
The prosecutions are being carried out under the Anambra State Homeland Security Law, introduced by the administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo as part of broader security reforms across the state.
Government Intensifies Crackdown on Alleged Ritual Practices
The Homeland Security Law prohibits the promotion and performance of practices commonly referred to as “Oke-Ite” and “Ezenwanyi.”
State authorities argue that these practices often involve claims of providing wealth, protection, or success through mystical or ritual means. The government says the legislation was enacted to discourage activities believed to encourage criminal behavior and mislead members of the public with false promises.
The latest conviction of Onyeze Jesus is expected to strengthen the state’s ongoing enforcement campaign against individuals accused of operating illegal spiritual or ritual-related activities.
The Anambra State Government has maintained that its crackdown is aimed at improving public safety, restoring confidence in lawful institutions, and reducing criminal activities allegedly linked to fraudulent spiritual practices.
