APC Withdraws Osun Election Petition Against Adeleke After Tribunal Filing

The All Progressives Congress has withdrawn its petition challenging the re-election of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, barely 24 hours after the governorship election petition tribunal in Osogbo displayed the filed papers.

Party officials have not given an elaborate public reason for the sudden withdrawal.

The move leaves the Peoples Democratic Party petition as the remaining challenge before the tribunal.

Legal watchers in the state say the APC step reduces the number of cases the panel must hear and could shorten the overall timeline of the proceedings.

Adeleke’s camp welcomed the development as confirmation of the strength of their mandate.

The tribunal is expected to proceed with the remaining petition according to its schedule, meaning the legal challenge to the Osun governorship result is not completely over despite the APC’s decision to withdraw its case.

For the moment, attention shifts to the remaining petition and the next steps before the election tribunal.
