A man has been arrested in Adamawa State after allegedly beating another resident to death during a violent attack in Yola North Local Government Area.
The Adamawa State Police Command confirmed the arrest of Abubakar Musa, who is being investigated over the alleged killing of Nathaniel Yusuf. According to police, both men are from Jambutu Ward in Yola North.
The incident came to light after the victim’s sister, Grace Yusuf, reported the alleged assault to officers at the Divisional Police Headquarters in Kofare.
Police operatives responded immediately to the distress report, visited the scene, rescued the injured victim and rushed him to the Specialist Hospital in Jimeta for emergency treatment. The suspect was arrested during the operation.
Victim Suffered Multiple Serious Injuries
Preliminary findings by investigators indicate that Nathaniel Yusuf sustained severe injuries during the attack.
Police said the victim reportedly suffered:
- Fractures to both legs
- A fractured right hand
- Serious head injuries
Investigators allege that the injuries were inflicted with a stick during the assault.
Despite efforts by medical personnel to save his life, the victim later died while receiving treatment at the hospital after doctors confirmed his death.
Police Launch Full Homicide Investigation
Following the incident, the Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, CP Kabiru Umar Hassan, directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Yola to take over the case.
The police said detectives have been instructed to conduct a comprehensive investigation and ensure that anyone found responsible is prosecuted in accordance with Nigerian law.
Authorities have not yet disclosed what led to the alleged attack, and investigations remain ongoing.
