The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested an alleged logistics supplier linked to a kidnapping syndicate operating in Abuja, following a recent abduction incident in the Mpape area.
The suspect was tracked and arrested in Niger State after an intensive investigation launched by the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit.
FCT Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, disclosed the development while addressing journalists in Abuja on Monday.
According to the police commissioner, the operation followed the kidnapping incident that occurred on July 8, 2026, around the Yellow House area of Mpape.
Investigators traced and arrested Umaru Danda, a native of Zamfara State, on July 10, 2026, at Gadabiu village in Niger State.
Suspect Allegedly Supplied Drugs and Logistics to Kidnappers
Police investigations identified the suspect as a major supplier of hard drugs, logistics, and other illegal substances allegedly used by the kidnapping gang responsible for the Mpape abduction.
Following his arrest, the suspect reportedly led police operatives to three separate hideouts belonging to the criminal group in Niger State.
During the operation, officers recovered several weapons, drugs, cash, and other items believed to be connected to the gang’s activities.

The Commissioner of Police confirmed that both the suspect and all recovered exhibits remain in police custody.
He added that the suspect will be arraigned in court after investigations are completed.
FCT Police Rescue Kidnap Victim in Karshi Without Paying Ransom
The FCT Police Command also announced another major success in its ongoing fight against kidnapping, rescuing a victim abducted from the Karshi area of Abuja without paying any ransom.
According to CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, the command received a distress call on July 12, 2026, reporting that armed kidnappers had invaded the area, fired several gunshots to create panic, and escaped with a resident.
Anti-Kidnapping Squad Tracked Suspects Through Waru Hills
Immediately after receiving the report, the police deployed members of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit to begin rescue operations.
The team searched multiple routes around the Karshi axis while simultaneously combing the difficult terrain around the Waru Hills, an area known for unofficial routes connecting the FCT with Nasarawa State.
After several days of coordinated operations, the police located and rescued the victim.
Victim Reunited With Family
The rescue operation was successfully carried out in the early hours of July 16, 2026, at approximately 12:45 a.m.
Police confirmed that the victim was rescued alive and unharmed, with no ransom paid to the abductors.
Following the rescue, she was taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention before being reunited with her family.
The latest operations highlight the FCT Police Command’s intensified efforts to dismantle kidnapping networks operating within Abuja and neighbouring states as security agencies continue investigations aimed at identifying and arresting other members of the criminal syndicates.
