Fresh Plateau Attack Claims Lives of Community Leader, Woman

In separate incidents in Plateau State Barkin Ladi and Riyom Local Government Areas, gunmen suspected of being Fulani terrorists killed a woman named Deborah Benjamin Kak and a 58 year old community leader named Daniel Pulle.

The attacks took place on Sunday night, according to Rwang Tengwong, National Publicity Secretary of the Berom Youth Moulders Association, BYM.

Pulle, a community leader in Gana-Ropp in the Ropp District of Barkin Ladi LGA, was ambushed and attacked at approximately 7:55 p.m. on Sunday while riding his motorbike home, according to a statement released by Tengwong on Monday morning.

According to the statement, Pulle was riding home from an outing when he was shot close to a bridge that led to the village.

In a different attack, according to Tengwong, bandits ambushed and shot Mrs. Kak at her home in Lwa village, Bachi District of Riyom LGA. She was taken to the Jos University Teaching Hospital, JUTH, where she eventually passed away from her wounds while being treated.

The association stated, “The Berom Youth Moulders expresses concerns over the ongoing violence and deaths in affected communities and calls for intensified security measures to protect residents and prevent further attacks.”

Kim Masara Usman, a conflict journalist who verified the occurrence, posted the following on his Facebook page on Monday:

“A community leader named Daniel Pulle was shot and killed barely minutes from his home in Gana Ropp village of Barkin Ladi LGA, Plateau State, while many of us slept last night.

“He was a calm man riding a motorbike back to his family when gunmen started fire; he wasn’t fighting or yelling. He instantly passed away.

“At the same time, Mrs. Deborah Benjamin Kak, who was shot by terrorists on June 26, 2026, at her home in Lwa village, Bachi District of Riyom Local Government Area, passed away on Sunday at the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH), where she had been receiving treatment.”
