Nnamdi Kanu recruiting more Igbo youths from prison for violence – Uwazuruike
From his jail in Sokoto, Biafra nation activist Ralph Uwazuruike has accused fellow agitator Nnamdi Kanu of planning the murder of Igbo youngsters.
From his jail in Sokoto, Biafra nation activist Ralph Uwazuruike has accused fellow agitator Nnamdi Kanu of planning the murder of Igbo youngsters.
According to Uwazuruike, Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, or IPOB, who is currently serving a life sentence for terrorism, continues to enlist young people from prison to plan acts of violence, which has resulted in the recruited youths’ deaths.
In a YouTube video, the agitator urged leaders of the Igbo country and Pan Igbo organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, to organise and travel to Sokoto in order to caution Kanu against recruiting Igbo youngsters into acts of violence that will end their lives.
“Anyone who knows me will agree that I have nothing to do with violence, and I detest violence,” he declared. How is it possible for someone who was given a prison sentence to stay there and encourage our young people to use violence?
“He has been sentenced; he ought to stay behind bars, do his sentence in peace, and refrain from inciting additional bloodshed. Our young men are dying every day as a result of Nnamdi Kanu recruiting them from prison and tricking them into using violence.
“I want to propose that the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo and Igbo leaders mobilise in Sokoto and issue a strong warning to Nnamdi Kanu to stop enlisting our young men in acts of violence that will kill them.
“Why can’t we have remorseful IPOB members here? We hear about repentant terrorists and bandits in the north, and the federal government spends money reintegrating them into society.
“Why can’t those who have experienced violence turn away from it and apply for amnesty so that the federal government can help them get back on their feet? Uwazuruike said, “Why do they have to be pushed further and further into violence instead of considering a way to come out, embrace amnesty, and enjoy rehabilitation?”
Recent social media videos of hooded people claiming to be Kanu supporters and members of the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (IPOB) claim they have been recruited for a new round of violence in the South East are connected to the laments of the former leader of IPOB.
In a number of the films posted on social media, militants with hooded arms are seen shouting songs in support of Nnamdi Kanu and threatening to unleash a new wave of violence in the South East if their leader is not freed. The videos are taken in unidentified bushes.
While establishing a new leadership, Nnamdi Kanu recently dismissed several of his reliable comrades from prison who were serving as the Directorate of State, or DOS, of Biafra. Additionally, he was praised for enlisting 100 men for a project he dubbed “100-man-project,” the specifics of which remained unclear.
