Gov Lawal Encourages NYSC Members to Prioritize Skills Acquisition

Dauda Lawal, the governor of Zamfara State, has encouraged National Youth Service Corps members stationed there to embrace business and skill development throughout their year of service. During the 2026 Batch A Stream II corps members’ swearing-in ceremony at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Gusau, the governor delivered the charge.
Lawal, on behalf of Alhaji Nasiru Galadima Kaura, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, advised corps members to take use of their service year by learning vocational skills and taking part in entrepreneurship initiatives.
He pointed out that such programs will assist in addressing youth restlessness and encouraging young Nigerians to be self-sufficient.
Additionally, the governor gave corps members assurances about their safety, claiming that his administration had implemented sufficient security measures in coordination with pertinent agencies.
“In cooperation with security agencies, we have implemented sufficient measures to guarantee your safety and well-being during your stay in Zamfara State,” he stated.
Lawal further underlined how crucial the NYSC program is to promoting national growth, unity, and integration.
He encouraged the corps members to actively engage in all camp activities, especially the program called Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development, or SAED, which aims to give them useful skills.
“You must uphold discipline, leadership, teamwork, and patriotism, which the orientation course is meant to instill, and you must obey all camp rules and regulations,” he continued.
Mallam Muhammad Lawan Ahmad, the Zamfara State NYSC Coordinator, praised the governor in his speech for his ongoing support of the program and corps members in the state.
He pointed out that the government dedication to the welfare of corps members is demonstrated by the recent increases in their allowances and the logistical assistance provided at the orientation camp.
