Lagos to Redirect Traffic Around Stadium and Ojuelegba Flyovers

In order to make it easier to erect truck barriers, the Lagos State Government has declared a temporary traffic detour around major flyovers in the city. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the Commissioner for Transportation, claims that the diversion will have an impact on both inbound and outbound traffic at the Stadium Flyover Bridge and the Ojuelegba Flyover Bridge, which are located close to the Fire Station.
The traffic adjustment is planned for Saturday, March 28 to Sunday, March 29, 2026, from 12:00 midnight to 5:00 a.m., and on Saturday, April 4 to Sunday, April 5, 2026.
Osiyemi issued a statement on Friday advising drivers to carefully use the approved alternate routes throughout the exercise.
He clarified that cars heading to Ojuelegba and Alhaji Masha Road from Eko Bridge, Costain, and Iponri would either continue on Alhaji Masha Road or be rerouted down the service road from Alaka, passing the National Stadium gate to connect to the Barracks area.
In the same way, drivers travelling from Apapa Road via Iponri and approaching from Eko Bridge via Costain have been advised to take a diversion via Iponri Estate Road, linking to Bode Thomas via Adeniran Ogunsanya and Shitta Roundabout.
As part of the state larger traffic management initiatives, the commissioner urged drivers to be patient and cooperative, pointing out that the nightly timetable was created to reduce disruption while guaranteeing the safe and effective installation of the truck barriers.
