INEC Fixes September 19 for Five Bye-Elections Across Four State

The Independent National Electoral Commission has fixed Saturday, 19 September 2026, for five bye-elections across Kano, Gombe, Bauchi and Delta states.
The polls will fill vacant legislative seats created by death, resignation or other constitutional reasons.
INEC directed its state offices to begin final logistics, including voter education and deployment of materials.
Political parties have started intensifying local campaigns in the affected constituencies as preparations move into the final stages.
Security arrangements are expected to receive special attention given the broader national climate.
The commission emphasised that the same guidelines used in previous bye-elections will apply.
Residents in the four states now have a clear date to prepare for voting, while candidates and political parties are expected to focus on their final mobilisation efforts.
Results will be announced at the respective local collation centres once counting is completed.
