In Kano, A Nigerian Woman D!es Hours After Giving Birth To Quintuplet
Hafsatu Yusuf, a Kano mother, passed away at Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital barely hours after giving birth to quintuplets, which is an extremely tragic incident.
The woman died at the hospital on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at around two in the morning, according to Nabilusi Abubakar K/Na’isa, the Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Ministry of Health, who verified the occurrence to Punch.
“She had been bleeding since after delivery, and all efforts by doctors to control the situation were unsuccessful,” he said, describing the woman’s ongoing bleeding following the delivery of the five babies three boys and two girls—and the failure of medical staff to stabilise her.
The deceased was subsequently buried in K/Na’isa’s home in Hotoro in compliance with Islamic customs.
He stated, “We are asking the public to help the babies with milk and other necessities.” He affirmed that the infants are receiving medical care at the hospital and are in stable health.
The government said in a previous statement that the quintuplets were delivered safely and that medical professionals gave the mother and the babies exceptional attention.
