IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, the Inspector-General of Police, has joined fathers across in celebrating Father’s Day. According to him, dads in Nigeria should be honoured for their vital contributions to social stability, family unity, and the advancement of the country.
In a statement signed by CSP Anietie Iniedu, Force Public Relations Officer, the IGP stated that the Force acknowledges the leadership, commitment, and sacrifices made by fathers in raising responsible citizens and bolstering the moral underpinnings of a prosperous and peaceful society.
According to the statement, the IGP recognised the critical role dads play in raising responsible children, fostering moral values, and establishing the ideals of hard work, discipline, integrity, and patriotism—all of which are crucial for the development of a nation.
He pointed out that fathers’ everyday sacrifices in guiding, protecting, and supporting their families continue to fortify society’s social fabric and make a substantial contribution to the advancement of the country.
The Inspector-General especially praised police personnel who, he said, continue to be devoted fathers and guardians in their families despite the demanding nature of their duties.
He acknowledged the sacrifices made by officers who dedicate themselves to their roles as parents and role models while frequently serving the country for extended periods of time away from home.
He urged Nigerians to recognise and value the sacrifices, dedication, and enduring influence of dads whose efforts greatly contribute to the creation of a safer, stronger, and more prosperous Nigeria. He wished all fathers health, strength, wisdom, and fulfilment.
