Fayose: Backing Tinubu as a PDP member isn’t Anti-Party Conduct

Despite being a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), former governor of Ekiti State Ayodele Fayose has stated that supporting President Bola Tinubu does not amount to anti-party activities.
Fayose said that political disagreements are a typical aspect of democracy and emphasised the importance of national interest over party allegiance.
Speaking on Sunday at the PDP national convention in Abuja, he declared, “You are an Ekiti man before you become a political party membership holder; Nigeria is for all of us.
” Every former governor backs the current governor, he claimed. In order to improve his claims, he also cited instances from national politics: “Have they expelled Obama and the former president because they don’t favour Trump or the Democrats? He said, “No, democracy will have those differences on national issues.”
“When we know that a member of our party is not capable of winning, we can’t say that they must,” Fayose continued, arguing that support should be determined by competency rather than party loyalty. “Would you compare an Asiwaju with a Makinde?” he asked.
