NNPP Distances Itself From G-100 Coalition as 2027 Plans Take Shape

The New Nigeria Peoples Party has distanced itself from the G-100 coalition as the opposition begins to consider its next options in the wake of the 2027 elections. The NNPP has stated that they will chart their political course independently and will not be dictated to by the decisions of other coalitions.
The statement comes after days of speculation on social media about what steps the opposition would take.
NNPP released a brief statement on the issue first on their page and then on political discussion groups. The statement was largely received as an assertion of independence by NNPP supporters, while other opposition groups read it as further proof that a united front was not forthcoming.
NNPP Maintains Its Political Independence
While the party indicated that their focus would turn to internal preparations for the elections, the statement has added yet another chapter to the convoluted political drama currently playing out in Nigeria’s opposition space.
The NNPP’s position means that, for now, the party intends to chart its own political course rather than allow another opposition coalition to determine its direction.
With the 2027 political cycle gradually becoming a bigger focus, the latest statement could further shape how the opposition parties position themselves and whether they eventually find common ground or continue along separate political paths.
