Kunle Afod Seeks Help for Veteran Actor Opebe as Mysterious Illness Worsens

Nollywood filmmaker and actor Kunle Afod has appealed to Nigerians and well-meaning individuals to support veteran actor Opebe, whose health condition has reportedly worsened after months of medical tests and hospital visits.

Afod made the appeal on Friday after visiting the veteran actor at his residence in Ibadan, Oyo State.

In a video shared on his Instagram page, Afod called attention to Opebe’s deteriorating health and urged members of the public and people within the entertainment industry to come to his aid.

According to the filmmaker, Opebe, who is one of the older faces in the Nigerian movie industry, has been struggling with his health and needs urgent assistance.

Afod said:

“Our fans, we have come again this time around for one of our elders in the industry, Baba Opebe. He’s not feeling healthy. His health is diminishing, depreciating, I don’t know the English that I can use to describe his situation right now as you all can see him.”

He further appealed to anyone who could provide medical assistance or connect the actor with appropriate healthcare to step forward.

“Please if you know where we can take him to or any support you can give to him please let’s help him. Nigerians, we want your support, we want your help. Please come to his aid.”

Opebe Opens Up About His Health Struggles

Speaking about his condition, Opebe revealed that he has been away from acting because of his declining health.

The veteran actor explained that he has undergone several medical tests at different hospitals, but doctors have reportedly been unable to identify a specific illness.

According to him, medical professionals only discovered that he was short of blood, leading to him receiving four pints of blood.

“I have been away from the screen because of my health. I have done a series of tests but nothing was found. They only told me that I’m short of blood and I was given four pints of blood.”

Opebe added that his health battle has continued since last year despite seeking treatment at different hospitals.

“I have been on it since last year. We have been to different hospitals. I was not diagnosed with any illness but it’s now getting worse.”

Veteran Actor’s Health Raises Concern

Opebe’s revelation has renewed concern among fans and colleagues in the Nigerian entertainment industry, particularly as he says his condition has continued to deteriorate despite undergoing several medical examinations.

Kunle Afod’s appeal has therefore drawn attention to the veteran actor’s situation as calls for support grow for him to receive further medical care.
